Emergency Medical Technician Instructor (New Jersey)
By virtue of our best-in-class pass rate, Less Stress Instructional Services is able to access Alternate Pathways for EMT Instructor certification. This means that candidates seeking EMT instructorship can utilize more direct methods for gaining EMT instructor certification and by bypass the long and cumbersome traditional pathway for EMT Instructor certificaiton.
Becoming an EMT instructor requires that the candidate:
- Be a current NJ EMT affiliated with an EMS agency
- Have current professional-level CPR
- Have three years of active EMT experience verified in writing by a clinical agency at time of certification (you can start training to become an instructor with 1 year of experience).
Candidates can utilize one of the following alternate pathways to instructorship:
Instructor Pathway
- Log 120 or more hours assisting as an EMT Instructor Aide and complete the associated benchmarks
- Take the NAEMSE Lv1 and Lv2 instructor courses online
- Take NREMT exam
Educator Pathway
- Master's Degree or higher education
- 36 months of teaching experience at an academic institution (K-12 or higher education)
- Take NREMT exam
- Awards provisional instructorship for 1 year
- Monitor with state faculty for full EMT Instructor licensure (3 year card)
Reciprocity Pathway
- EMT Instructorship in another state
- Take NREMT exam
- Awards provisional instructorship for 1 year
- Monitor with state faculty for full EMT Instructor licensure (3 year card)
Less Stress Instructional Services sponsors candidates to become EMT Instructors. We also hire EMT instructor aides to teach CPR and EMT refreshers. EMT Instructor Aides are also offered the opportunity to take any training programs offered at Less Stress Instructional Services, and to acquire other EMS instructorships they are interested in.
