The ZOLL AED Plus Special Features
This page has additional details about the distinguishing features of the ZOLL AED Plus. It is designed to inform you on how the ZOLL unit is more than just an AED, but rather more of a resuscitation system.

GRAPHICAL
DISPLAY
The figures in these displays walk the user not just through AED application,
but also through the assessment for CPR (determining unresponsiveness, calling
9-1-1, checking for breathing and circulation). Given the fact that
non-professional rescuers quickly loose retention of CPR skills just weeks after
the end of a program, these simple reminders are helpful to walk the rescuer
through all the proper steps of resuscitation.

COMPRESSION
SENSOR
This is one of the most unique features of the ZOLL AED Plus unit. This
oval pad highlights the spot for chest compressions during CPR, making finding
the compression landmark easier. It also has a pressure sensor that
measures the rescuer's efforts at CPR. When the compression depth is
insufficient, the unit prompts the rescuer to push harder with a on-screen
message and a verbal prompt from the unit's speaker. The unit's metronome
also allows rescuers to keep up their compressions at the recommended 100
compressions per minute.

EZ PEEL
CPR-D PADZ TABS
Rescuers, in the heat of the moment, can easily get their hands (especially when
wearing gloves) stuck to the AED pad adhesive when trying to peel the backing
off of the pads. The ZOLL AED Plus' special CPR-D Padz have special peel tabs to
facilitate the removal of the backing. The pads end up where they belong -
on the patient.

CONSUMER
LITHIUM MANGANESE BATTERIES
Don't pay $100 - $200 for proprietary AED batteries that will only last 2-3
years in the machine. The ZOLL AED Plus is powered by 10 Lithium Manganese
batteries, for a total of 300 shocks. Even with 5 battery failures, the
machine would be able to deliver 150 shocks to a patient in need.
