The
victim
sitting
up
is
breathing,
while
the
victim
lying
down
is
not
breathing.

victims

how

oxygen
affects
them.
The
exercise
is
complete
when
both
victims
reach
maximum
oxygen
levels.
The
oxygen
level
is
improving
as
the
victim
is
breathing
oxygen
out
of
the
mask.
The
oxygen
level
is
not
improving
because
the
victim
cannot
breathe
the
oxygen
in
the
mask.
The
rescue
breaths
are
increasing
the
oxygen
level.
Keep
breathing!
This
procedure
is
generally
performed
in
combination
with
chest
compressions

You
have
completed
this
exercise
by
demonstrating
the
understanding
that
conscious
breathing
victims
will
breathe
air
out
of
the
mask,
and
that
unconscious
not-breathing
victims
will
need
rescue
breathing
to
get
the
benefit
of
oxygen
therapy.
