AED Upgrade
The 2005 Guidelines for CPR include some major changes in the process of defibrillation. These changes will affect both how individuals perform CPR, and how Automated External Defibrillators shock patients. Energy settings may be different in some AED's, as well as the number of shocks delivered at a time are likely to be different. This will require some modification of existing AED hardware.
The AED manufacturers are currently creating firmware upgrades for their devices. It is likely that most AED's will be able to be upgraded, although some older models might not have software patches.
Clients leasing AED's from Less Stress Instructional Services will be eligible for AED software upgrades at no cost during a routine service visit. This type of free upgrade is one of the best reasons for leasing AED's.
Clients owning their own AED's can request a service visit for their devices. A Less Stress representative will provide a quotation for the unit's upgrade. In some areas, upgrades may be able to be performed via UPS with a loaner unit in place during your unit's absence.
Not all AED manufacturers have released patches yet, but you can fill out the form below to receive some information about upgrading your AED's to the 2005 Guidelines Standard.
